Brighton student seriously injured during lacrosse game

A Brighton student is in the hospital after he was seriously injured during a lacrosse game last Thursday that was not affiliated with the school.

The Brighton Central School District issued a statement that in part says, "The strength, courage and determination that he has always shown on the field and in the classroom are evident as he battles through critical stages in his recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his teammates and the entire community that he and his family mean so much to."

The district is not identifying the student.

Counseling support is available to all students and staff throughout the week.
