A Rochester man is being treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns after running into a neighbor's burning house.
The fire started shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday on Wilsonia Road, just off North Winton Road.
Investigators say it was a kitchen fire and there was a lot of smoke coming from the house. Three people live there, but nobody was home at the time.
A neighbor who lives next door didn't know that the house was empty at the time, and firefighters say he ran in to make sure a baby was out of the house.
"He was a brave man, he was trying to confirm that everybody was out. We would tell you wait for us to get here. We have the training. It's a very difficult thing to say what exactly is the right thing there, but you are risking your life," says RFD Deputy Chief John Kearney.
The Deputy Chief says that man suffered smoke inhalation and had some minor burns on his face. He was taken to Highland Hospital, but is expected to be okay.
