Study: Number of MRSA infections drop

MRSA infections are going down across the U.S. according to a large study of soldiers.

Researchers at the San Antonio Military Medical Center collected data from more than 250 military clinics over a five-year period. They found rates of community-onset and hospital acquired MRSA went down at least 10- percent.

These skin and blood infections are sometimes resistant to antibiotics, which makes them difficult to treat and very dangerous.

Experts say strict hospital sanitation rules may be contributing to the decrease, but they are not sure what is causing the decline in infections in the community.
