Red Wings split doubleheader

The Red Wings split their doubleheader Sunday against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs at Frontier Field. In the first game former Minnesota Twins starter Nick Blackburn started for the Red Wings.

Blackburn pitched eight shutout innings striking out two. The game was scoreless in the eighth inning when Danny Valencia singled home Pedro Florimon for the only run of the game.

Nick Blackburn picked up the win and the Red Wings won the first game 1-0.

In game two of the doubleheader the Red Wings were down 4-0 in the second to Lehigh Valley when Pete Orr hit a three run homer to give the Iron Pigs the 7-0 lead. Lehigh Valley wins the second game 7-1.
