nullThere was a large turnout tonight for a vigil for community activist Airistine Gibson who died over a week ago in a house fire on Bay Street. Gibson was bed-ridden and was unable to make it out of the house during the early morning fire. There were two rescue attempts to try and save her, by her son and a firefighter, however the fire was too strong and rescuers were unable to help.

The charred house still remains on Bay Street, with yellow tape strung across the front yard. Monday evening, friends, family, and community members turned out to pray for Gibson and for answers. Gibson was a popular figure in the community and touched the lives of many. Individuals came to the vigil to remember her and her impact on her neighborhood.

Investigators still are not sure of the cause of the fire, but believe in started in Gibson's home. Gibson's funeral is planned for Thursday.
