Two Ontario teens have been arrested for stealing a gorilla statue from James Beneway High School in the Wayne Central School District.

Connor J. Hollenbeck and Michael Morgan, both 18-years-old, are charged with burglary and grand larceny.

Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies say the two stole the six foot decorated gorilla statue worth $1,700 from the school on June 23. A previous class at the high school decorated the statue and it was on display at the school.

Investigators later found out that Hollenback and Morgan destroyed the statue by setting it on fire.

Hollenback and Morgan were arraigned in the Town of Lyons court and released. They are due back in court at a later date.
