Project TIPS event at Pulaski Park

Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard was on hand with other local leaders Friday morning in Pulaski Park to preview the Project TIPS event that will be going on there all day.

TIPS stands for trust, information, programs and services. The program aims to build trust and better relationships among neighborhood residents and law enforcement.

Chief Sheppard hopes the program will encourage more people to come forward and help stem the recent wave of violence in our city. “That's what it really takes is a comprehensive approach to address these issues. We do focus on violence, particularly gun violence, and we do need the community to step up and help us to identify those who are engaged and help us make prosecutions so we can change this culture and change what goes on in this city."

On July 20, TIPS officials will be going door to door from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Pulaski Park taking anonymous surveys and holding a community cook out.
