Police: Man steals over $50,000 and falsifies financial records from Palmyra VFW

CrimeWayne County Sheriff’s deputies say a man was charged with Grand Larceny in the second degree for stealing as much as over $50,000 and Falsifying Business Records in the first degree.

Police say 72-year-old Jack L. Haight, Jr. of Palmyra was stealing money from the Palmyra VFW.

They say Haight was the Quartermaster and he had sole financial responsibilities for the club. They say he used the money from gaming and other sales and events for personal profit.

Police say Haight is believed to have falsified quarterly reports that were supposed to accurately reflect sales, profits and expenditures for gaming activities in the club.

Haight is accused of stealing as much as $50,000 over a period of many years, according to police.

Haight was arraigned in the Town of Palmyra and will appear in court at a later date.
