Theater shootings impact on Rochester movie-goers

The The Colorado tragedy has caused a huge impact on people in the area and across the nation. But that hasn't stopped some movie goers in Rochester from going to see "The Dark Knight Rises" in Rochester. News10NBC caught up with some people going to see the film early this morning.

Most say they did think about the shootings as they filed into the theater. It's not something people can easily forget: the images all over television and the web, the number of people shot and the unanswered questions.

Police agencies across Monroe County had extra officers or extra patrols around movie theaters tonight. But it is really about comfort more than safety.

Gates Police say they want people to feel safe. Some people outside Tinsletown Friday night said they were worried. Others, like Ryan Wasley, said the shootings didn't bother them.

Wasley said, "It's just one situation in one place, and there are a lot of movies, a lot of places to see movies. Just one psycho shouldn't make a difference."

Other worry about copy cat situations.

Kadi McMaster said, "Just afraid that people who saw the news story there might be some copy cat people out there, there are other people who want to get on the news. So yeah, I definitely made a choice not to see it tonight."

Some have even decided to avoid the film all together because of the shooting. McMaster decided to avoid the movie all together with her son.
