Famous Kodak photographer's work on display at High Falls

For decades he was Kodak's most famous photographer and now the work of Neil Montanus is on display at the High Falls Gallery Sunday.

Montanus's known for his pioneering techniques in underwater photography that allowed a massive 18 by 60 foot print to be created and displayed in New York City's Grand Central terminal. He also took the White House portrait of Gerald Ford in the Oval Office after Richard Nixon resigned in 1974.

Montanus says his crowning achievement would have to be his portrait of none other than Walt Disney himself.

"[Disney] flew into Rochester on his jet just to have me photograph him," recalls Montanus. "And they called the best picture of Walt Disney that was ever made and they still use it today in all their facilities. So that was a thrill."

Surprisingly, despite his connection to film, Montanus is also very enthustiastic about digital photography.
