Flags are at half staff today in memory of a Rochester soldier who many say was the true definition of a hero.

Private First Class Theodore Matt Glende is being remembered for his heroic actions under fire.

He died last week while helping his fellow wounded soldiers as their unit came under attack in Afghanistan.

Calling hours for the McQuaid grad are Friday at Miller Funeral Home on South Winton Road in Rochester. His funeral is Saturday at the Interfaith Chapel on the University of Rochester campus.

Glende was just married in April.
