GE recalls 1.3-million dishwashers due to fire hazard

GE is recalling more than one-million dishwashers due to a fire hazard.
 
The recall includes GE, GE Adora, GE Eterna, GE Profile and Hotpoint dishwashers which were sold nationwide from March 2006 to August 2009.
 
The heating elements in the machines can fail and cause a fire.
 
GE has received seven reports of fires so consumers are urged to disconnect the power supply by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker controlling it.
 
GE will provide free repairs or rebates toward a new dishwasher.
