State and federal law enforcement officials have arrested seven people accused of distributing crystal methamphetamine in the Southern Tier as a result of a 19-month investigation dubbed "Operation Crystal Ball."
The people arrested included two from Georgia, two from Pennsylvania, and three from the Binghamton area.
Authorities said Thursday that they launched the drug trafficking investigation in January 2011 and confiscated more than a pound-and-a-half of meth with an estimated street value of $120,000. Also confiscated was more than $30,000 in cash and numerous firearms.
State police say the drug was made in Mexico.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas Walsh.
