Balloon Fest ready to sail in western NY

As many as 50 balloons are expected this year at the New York State Festival of Balloons that kicked off Thursday in Dansville.
    
Balloons launch for the first time at 6 p.m. Friday, weather permitting. Organizers expect upward of 30,000 people to attend the festival, the 31st time it's been held in Dansville, south of Rochester.
    
The festival includes novelty balloons like the Purple People Eater and Pepe the Skunk.
    
Balloon rides and tethered rides depend on the weather.
