nullMany people are enjoying their day off thanks to Labor Day, but some people wanted to remind people why they have the day off.

At a news conference held in downtown Rochester, the President of the Rochester and Genesee Valley Area Labor Federation spoke out about the lack of jobs in the United States and in the Rochester area.

He said workers are putting public officials on notice, that they won’t be ignored anymore.

Jim Bertolone, President of Rochester and Genesee Valley Area Labor Federation, said, “The unemployment rate in New York and Monroe is unacceptable.  As well as Monroe County has done compared to other parts of the state we are still tens of thousands of jobs less, Particularly in manufacturing than we just did 10 years ago.”

Unions have laid out what they call a “Second Bill of Rights,” a list of demands including a right to full employment.
