It seems people are starting to choose Twitter over TV when it comes to following political conventions.

The number of people who watched last week's Republican National Convention on TV dropped sharply from 2008. While that suggests there isn't as much interest in the political process as there was four years ago, the convention was a hit online and on social networks.

A Fordham University political science professor says the increase in the popularity of social networking sites gives people a chance to get the information they want without having to park themselves in front of a TV set for hours.
