A teenager suffered serious injuries after a three-car crash Thursday morning on Clover Street just south of French Road in Pittsford. Sheriff’s deputies say the teen was texting.

Sheriff’s deputies say 18-year-old Jonathan Carey-Grimm was driving a brown sedan when he crossed into the oncoming traffic, hitting a landscaping truck head-on. Carey-Grimm’s vehicle spun and then hit a second vehicle.

Carey-Grimm was taken to Strong Hospital with serious injuries. The driver and passenger in the landscaping truck were not injured. The female driver of the second vehicle was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

News10NBC spoke with Matthew Wetennings, the driver of the truck. He said, “Me and my co worker were headed northbound on Clover Street and the Altima was headed southbound. He was looking at the center console. I'm not sure doing what but he came across the road and we swerved to the right to try and miss but he hit the tail end of the truck.”

Carey-Grim was ticketed for operating a motor vehicle while texting and failure to keep right.
