Former pastor sentenced for taking a child to Florida to have sex

The former pastor convicted of taking a child to Florida to have sex was sentenced Thursday.

Joe Flowers is going to federal prison for seven years. His sentence won’t start until he finishes the one and a third to 4 years state prison term he’s serving right now near Utica on a separate charge of abusing an 8-year-old boy from his former church.

Flowers was convicted in federal court of taking a child, under the age of 15, to Orlando with the intent of having sex.
