Two Syracuse men charged for committing bank robberies in Gates and Auburn

Two Syracuse men have been arrested and charged for committing a series of bank robberies in Gates and Auburn.
Thirty-four year olds Brandon Rothenburgh and James Nicholson, both of Syracuse, are charged with conspiring to commit bank robbery and bank robbery.
According to the criminal complaint, Rothenburgh and Nicholson robbed the First Niagara
Bank on Lyell Avenue in Gates on June 18 and then again on August 7. The complaint also says Rothenburgh and Nicholson robbed the Citizens Bank on Chili Avenue in Gates on July 12 and the Bank of America on Grant Avenue in Auburn on August 30.
The complaint says the two wore disguises and rubber gloves when they entered the bank. One of the suspects is accused of jumping over the teller counter and demanding cash before jumping back over the counter and exiting the bank.
If convicted, the two men face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.
