A female Rochester Police officer was injured in a chase Friday morning.

News10NBC is told several officers were running after two men in the area of Bloss Street and Backus Street when the officer got hurt.

Police say two men in the area were acting suspiciously and when the officers tried to speak to them, the men took off running.

The officers ran after the men and during the chase, the female officer strained her quad muscle. She's expected to be out of work for a little while as a result of the injury.

One of the suspects is charged with assault. Police say that charge comes as a result of the officer being injured in the course of the chase.
