Student athletes from Geneseo High School suspended from teams for underage drinking incident

Fifteen student athletes from Geneseo High School were suspended from their sport teams as a result of an underage drinking incident. The students suspended include athletes from the volleyball, soccer, football and cross-country teams.
Geneseo Superintendent Tim Hayes says the students are suspended from practice and games for 15 days. The students still have to attend the practice, but can’t participate in the practice. Once they return, the students will then be suspended from 20% of the team’s contests for the remainder of the season.
Hayes says the students are not suspended from school, but the underage drinking did violate the school’s student athlete code of conduct.
Hayes says the incident is not connected to the incident involving SUNY Geneseo volleyball players.
