Eight-year-old boy gets into accident after taking family car

In Cheektowaga, an eight-year-old boy was involved in a car accident after police say he took the family car.

According to WGRZ, the mother of the boy woke up Monday morning to find that both her son and her car were both missing. Police say the boy was spotted driving more than a mile away from his residence on Willowlawn Parkway.

Investigators say the boy was located after he crashed the car and damaged a fence, sign post, and fire hydrant. Luckily the eight-year-old boy was not harmed during the accident.

No charges have been filed at this time.
