A new French study finds heavy drinkers are more likely to suffer a stroke earlier in life.

Researchers looked at the drinking habits of more than 500 people who had stroke caused by bleeding in the brain.

Those who consumed three or more drinks a day had their stroke at an average age of 60 -- which is 14 years before the average age of those who did not drink heavily.

Heavy drinkers were also more likely to die within two years of their stroke.
