Registered sex offender charged with rape

A convicted sex offender from Albion is facing new charges. He accused of raping a 14-year-old girl.

State Police say 33-year-old Scott Stanley was arrested after a three month investigation. He is charged with raping the teen in Orleans and Genesee counties.

News10NBC obtained some of the court paperwork on the arrest. It says that Stanley had sexual contact with the teen as far back as December of 2010. The paperwork goes on to stay Stanley raped the teen again in June and July of 2011. It says she was 14-years-old when the sexual contact started. 

Stanley is from Albion and News10NBC went to his neighborhood and spoke to neighbors who saw police arrest him. 

Tabatha Pahura said, “Well we saw the cops here and there was an undercover sheriff. They knocked on his door then they hand cuffed him out front here. I’m shocked, very shocked. There are a lot of kids running around in this neighborhood, a lot of kids walking the street all the time.”

According to state police, Stanley has been a level 3 registered sex offender since 2005. According to the Illinois State Sex Offender Registry, he was convicted there in 2004. The details of that charge weren't available, but according to the registry it involved child pornography.

Stanley is being held at the Genesee County Jail.  His bail is set at $25,000 cash and $100,000 bond.
