nullIt's the perfect way to keep kids active and out of trouble.

The Rochester Police Department kicked off their "Skate with a Cop" program today at the Rochester Action Sports Park.

It's all part of the police activities league initiative started by Police Chief James Sheppard.

The program is designed to connect kids with Rochester Police Officers in a positive environment.

Kylie Wiese is a mother of a skateboarder. She says, “I have somewhere for him to go and somewhere for him to go play and get all of his energy out without having to worry about him getting hurt, getting hit by a car or any of that. He's not out running the roads getting into trouble."

The "Skate with a Cop" program allows kids and police to enjoy skateboarding, rollerblading and BMX biking together.
