A woman is dead after an early morning house fire on the city's northwest side.
Fire officials were called to the home on Pierpont Street just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Firefighters say there was a large amount of flames and smoke coming from the house.
While crews were working to extinguish the fire, they found the woman dead on the second floor of the home. Officials say four young children who live in the house were not home at the time of the fire and are all accounted for. They are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
