Cardinal Dolan was here in Rochester to celebrate Bishop Matthew Clark's 50th anniversary as priest.
News10NBC was there for the mass at 2 p.m on Sunday. It was standing room only for the momentous occasion.
Bishop Clark is a spiritual leader for more than 300,000 catholics in a diocese that spans 12 counties.
Cardinal Dolan says he wishes Bishop Clark would be allowed to serve longer. He thinks Bishop Clark will miss some of the day in and day out challenges of being bishop, but will probably enjoy his retirement.
Bishop Clark is the second longest serving bishop in the history of the diocese.
