Students in Irondequoit spent the day working on a special project for some local vets.
Kids at Eastridge High School took time to write letters to veterans taking part in Operation Honor Flight. The program flies vets to Washington D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial dedicated to fallen military men and women.
On the flight, letters are delivered to the vets during a mail call. The next flight will include the letters students wrote on Monday.
Amber Coan, Eastridge student, said, "Basically we're writing stuff about us so they know who we are and who is writing them. I think they're really going to appreciate it."
School officials say the students wrote the letters as part of a project for their English class.
