A routine bike ride to school turned tragic Wednesday. Police say a teenager lost his life after being struck by an SUV in Wayne County. State Police say it happened just before school on Clyde-Marengo Road between Clyde and Lyons in the town of Galen.
Fourteen-year-old Neil Hoover was just two miles away from home, heading to school and he was almost there when the accident happened.
Police were called to Clyde-Marengo Road around 8:15a.m. Wednesday.
State Police Trooper Larry Wolkonowski said, “There was a vehicle out there that had some front end damage, we also observed a bicycle and a body on the side of the road. We have no determination at this time as to what the bicyclists actions were -- those will come out in the investigation."
Hoover’s father said his son loved to play baseball and they are working on funeral arrangements.
Right now, no charges have been filed in the case, but it has been presented to the district attorney.
