Man charged with DWI, resisting arrest after car crash in Penfield

A Penfield man is facing charges following a one-vehicle crash. It happened just after midnight on Old Penfield Road.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies say they responded to the report of a vehicle into a pole but when they arrived on scene, no one was in the vehicle.

Investigators say the passenger returned to the scene of the crash shortly after deputies arrived and the driver, 38-year-old Richard Torrellas, was apprehended with the help of a K-9 after he failed to comply with deputies’ orders.

Torrellas is charged with DWI, resisting arrest, aggravated unlicensed operation and leaving the scene of an accident.

Torrellas and his passenger were not injured.
