Darien Lake announces major improvements for 2013

A new thrill ride is coming to Darien Lake for the 2013 season.

“Blast Off” is a 185-foot thrill ride that will accelerate riders to the top of a tower in a way that simulates an actual NASA launch. Darien Lake General Manager Bob Montgomery said “Gs will experience the feeling of 4G, equivalent to what the astronauts in the Space Shuttle experience. It is a real thrill.”

Officials also plan a major upgrade to the nightly Laser Blast show. They plan to add water technology, pyrotechnics and high-value production that will transform the laser show into a new summer spectacular called “Ignite the Night.”

Both new attractions will be ready for opening day which is set for May 11, 2013.
