nullThey have made some bad decisions, but now they're trying to help others from going down the same path.

Inmates from the Orleans County Correctional Facility have raised more than $1,000 to help fund Saturday's gun drop-off event at the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church on Clifford Avenue.

The money raised by inmates was also matched by the church and then again by the Rochester Police foundation.

Reverend Ira White says this sends a message to the young people of our city.

He said, "This is a message from the inside to the outside for our young people and young men that are using these guns to destroy themselves when they have a great future ahead of them and I thought a message from the inside should be told."

Anyone could drop off a gun during the event on Saturday, no questions asked, and receive a Wegman's gift card worth $50 or $100.
