A vigil was held on Saturday night for a mother who died in a house fire last weekend.

Firefighters say 38-year-old Chandra Majors was killed when fire broke out in her home on Pierpont Street around 2.30 a.m. last Sunday morning, September 16.

On Saturday night, family, friends, community members and local leaders returned to the home to pray for their lost friend and loved one, and for the 7 children she leaves behind.

News10NBC spoke with Chandra's mother who says she's thankful for the support of her family during this difficult time.

She said, "It's a good feeling, I feel a lot of love and support and I have a good family and they're helping me through this ordeal because right now I'm weak, I don't have no strength."

The arson task force is still investigating the cause of that fire.
