nullThe superintendent of the Warsaw School District has resigned.

The district made the announcement on Tuesday night. They did not give a reason for Doctor Valerie Burke's resignation.

News10NBC reported last week that according to state police, Doctor Burke was arrested in May 2011 for DWI and pleaded guilty the following September to a lesser charge of DWAI.

Residents in Warsaw only found out about the arrest recently.

The district clerk tells News10NBC the Board of Education accepted Doctor Burke's resignation.

In the meantime, elementary school principal Stephen Saxton will serve as acting superintendent of schools.
