The city of Niagara Falls is forging ahead with its plan to help pay down student loans for people who agree to live in the city for two years.
Applications will be available starting today for people interested in becoming what the city is calling "urban pioneers." The forms are on a new website: www.Live-NF.com.
Despite its world-famous waterfalls, the city of Niagara Falls has seen its population drop by half since the 1960s. It's just over 50,000 now and if it goes lower could be at risk of losing some federal funding.
To combat the decline and reinvigorate the city, the Downtown Housing Incentive will pay off a total of $7,000 of student loan debt for participants who agree to live in a specific neighborhood.
Applications are due November 16.
