As Rochester Police Officer Anthony DiPonzio continues his road to recovery, he's helping others to do the same thing.
Officer DiPonzio spoke to a brain injury support group Wednesday at the Al Sigl Center. He offered his story about being shot in the line of duty and coming back from it, as inspiration to others who are trying to put their lives back together.
DiPonzio says speaking to them was also beneficial to him.
"This group mainly was very different for me because for me it's a group you know I could definitely relate with because they've been through a lot of the same things that I have been through, experienced a lot of the same challenges and difficulties and hardships," he says.
Officer DiPonzio went back to work last November, almost two years after being shot in the head.
He was also able to complete his Master's degree in Criminal Justice Administration.
