ATM surcharges going up

You may want to think twice before using that ATM.
 
Bankrate.com's annual analysis of checking accounts found the average ATM surcharge is now at a record high of $2.50.
 
An ATM surcharge is the fee charged by the machine operator to a non-customer and it gets even more expensive when you throw in your own bank's charge for using a competitor's machine. That fee rose to an average of $1.57.
