nullA Virginia man is fighting extradition to western New York, where he's accused of killing a school district superintendent.

Chautauqua County, N.Y., Sheriff Joseph Gerace says Monday it could be a month or more before Anthony Robert Taglianetti II is turned over to New York authorities after he refused to waive his right to an extradition hearing.

Clymer, N.Y., Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. was shot to death on Sept. 21. Taglianetti was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Virginia on Friday.

A person familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press on Saturday that the 42-year-old Taglianetti believed Reed was having an affair with his wife. The person requested anonymity because the information was not being publicly released by authorities.

Taglianetti, of Woodbridge, Va., is charged with second-degree murder.
