Calling hours for College at Brockport student to be held this week

News10NBC has learned the details about funeral arrangements for a College at Brockport student beaten to death in her dorm room over the weekend.

According to the website for a funeral home in New Hartford, calling hours for 21-year-old Alexandra Kogut will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. October 3. Her funeral is scheduled for Thursday.

Hundreds of students and faculty gathered Monday night for a vigil to remember the freshman from New Hartford. Many people wore purple, it was Kogut's favorite color and a symbol of the fight against domestic violence.

Brockport President Dr. John Halstead said while this is a time to grieve and heal, it is a time to take a stand against domestic violence.

Kogut's boyfriend, 21-year-old Clayton Whittemore is charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death. He is scheduled to be back in court on Thursday.
