Greece man sentenced to 15 years for burglaries

A Greece man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for robbing a 99-year-old man and beating up an 84-year-old woman.

John Meyers was sentenced Tuesday by Judge Winslow. In addition to the 15 years in prison, he will also serve five years post-release supervision.

Meyers previously pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary in two separate incidents.

The DA’s Office says on December 8, 2011, Meyers and two others went to the Greece home of a 99-year-old man and laid him down while they went through the house and stole jewelry and money.

In a separate incident on December 24, 2011, the DA’s Office says Meyers went to another Greece home, beat the elderly owner and stole money.

Meyers received the same sentence for each crime to run concurrently.
