A man had to be rescued after he fell down an embankment while riding a lawnmower at Bristol Harbour Resort on Seneca Point Road.

Around 7:00am, Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies say 68-year-old Doug Preston, an employee of the golf course, was mowing around the 15th hole early Thursday morning. When he did not return around 8:30am, his co-workers  went to check on him.

Sheriff's Deputies say the co-workers first found Preston's grass baskets to the mower about 20 feet off the green of Hole 15. Sheriff's Deputies say soon after, they found Preston and his mower approximately 100 feet down the ravine. He was unresponsive.

Rope teams from Ontario County had to rescue Preston and he was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Hospital. Sheriff's Deputies say Preston is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Preston, of Naples, has been a part-time employee at Bristol Harbour for more than 10 years. The pro there says he also plays in one of the club's golf leagues.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
