It's a weekend full of activities and events designed to celebrate the heritage of one of Rochester's most important waterways -- the Genesee River.
Rochester River Romance kicked off on Friday. This year's event commemorates the opening of the new Heritage Trail which crosses the Genesee River.
A ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday officially opened the trail to the public.
Bob Whiting is a member of the Ontario Beach Park Program Committee. He said, "This is one of the most unique resources that Rochester has. The lake and the water and of course south of here the Erie Canal. It's a very very important resource for Rochester and we like to publicize it and do events along it as much as we can along all of those waterways."
Rochester River Romance offers everything from boat and bike rides, to tours and even hay rides.
This year's event wrapped up on Friday afternoon.
