Construction expected to begin on new downtown bus station

Construction is expected to get started Monday on the new downtown bus station.
The new bus station is being built virtually in the same place where the failed Renaissance Square project was supposed to be located.
But instead of a combination bus station, performing arts center and MCC campus, it’s a standalone station at Clinton Avenue and Mortimer Street.
It will take over a full city block and feature 26 inside bus bays.
The project cost $50-million with 80-percent of the money coming from federal transportation funds.
Construction is expected to be complete in 2015.
