News10NBC has learned new information on a Greece Police officer accused of giving alcohol to a minor.
News 10NBC obtained court paperwork that gives us a look into what lead to the officer's arrest. Officer Sam Ross is charged with unlawfully dealing with a child.
According to the court paperwork, 31-year-old Ross gave the teen boy alcohol at least three different times. The chief of Greece Police say the boy is 18-years-old.
According to court paperwork on August 19, Ross gave the teen two drinks that contained Diet Coke and Crown Royal Whisky. The paperwork goes on to say that on August 24 while the two were at Tilt Nightclub, which is on Central Avenue in the City of Rochester, Ross gave the teen two drinks that had Citron vodka in them. The paperwork says the third time was on the 26th of August while the two were at the Shumway Marina. It says Ross gave the teen two drinks that had grape vodka in them.
The Greece Police started their investigation into Ross in early September and handed the case over to the sheriff's office after talking with the district attorney about the allegations.
Sandra Doorley, District Attorney said, “We in the community need to build trust in our police officers to protect our community. But a police officer needs to be treated as any other member of our community. If they are alleged to have violated the law, we need to look at that as we would any other citizen.”
Another questions many people had when News10NBC first learned of these charges was how Ross and the teen met and what was their relationship.
News10NBC has learned they met through social media and that it was *not* through Facebook. In the court paperwork, News10NBC learned that the two did have a "personal relationship."
Greece Police are still conducting an internal investigation on Ross. They say it won’t be done until next week. Ross is still suspended with pay and he did turn in his gun and badge.
Ross is scheduled to appear in Irondequoit Town Court October 23rd.
