Best Buy gets pricing flexibility to match online deals

If you carry a smartphone, you are probably among the many people who've been looking at items in stores and then checking online to see if you can beat the price. Best Buy is among retailers that fear they've been losing sales that way, so they're doing something about it.
    
The consumer electronics giant says it has told store staffers they can match some rivals' lower prices, if asked, ahead of the holiday shopping season.
    
Many retailers already offer price-matching guarantees for rival so-called brick-and-mortar stores.
    
A Best Buy spokeswoman says the change applies to appliances and electronics and will be given on an "if asked" basis at the discretion of Best Buy staffers on the sales floor.
