Deadline for tax filing extensions

If you requested extra time to pay your taxes, Monday is likely your deadline to file.

Most taxpayers who requested an extension on filing are expected to do so by Monday. Even if you're unable to pay the full amount you owe, experts say it's still a good idea to make the deadline. If you miss it, you could be hit with a late penalty. Late payments are still subject to fees and interest.

Military members serving in Iraq and Afghanistan will still have some extra time to file after Monday’s deadline.
