On Monday, there will be a local conversation about fighting the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s disease.

The Rochester and Finger Lakes branch of the Alzheimer’s Association will meet to talk about the national Alzheimer’s plan.

It's a federal program focusing on research and awareness for the disease. Congress signed the act into law in 2011.

People will share their experiences with the illness starting this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center in Brighton.

A specialist from the University of Rochester and representatives of the elder care industry will be on hand.
