The Fair Election Practice Committee has deemed a second ad that attacks Maggie Brooks and her congressional campaign false.

Last week, Brooks' filed a complaint over a direct mail ad that cites what it calls "scandals" within the County Executive's administration.

The Committee said the content of the mailer was inaccurate and overstated.

A recent TV ad containing similar language was determined to be a violation. Brooks calls the direct mail ad "false and deceptive".

On October 14, Slaughter’s campaign filed a complaint with the Fair Elections Practices Committee to take Brooks to task over what they say is a false ad. “Maggie Brooks and her ally Karl Rove are trying to buy this election with blatant lies about Louise’s record,” said Slaughter spokesman Eric Walker. “We already know that Maggie Brooks is willing to lie to the voters about her own record of scandal and corruption, and we expect no different from her deep-pocketed allies. Regardless, Maggie Brooks has an obligation to repudiate this false attack and demand that news networks pull the ad down.”
