Mayor Tom Richards focusing on preventing homelessness

Tuesday morning Mayor Tom Richards wanted to focus on preventing homelessness, so he held a news conference to herald how the City has connected with 50 community agencies to create more than 1,200 permanent housing units in the City and Monroe County. hese are dedicated to people who typically could become homeless.
He also spoke of providing $2.5-million for emergency rentals and security deposits and that the City has enabled more than $400-million in investment in affordable rentals housing -- 649 units in the last six years. Richards says hundreds more are in the pipeline.
