Students were evacuated from the Palmyra Macedon Intermediate School in Macedon after a small fire.

Around 11:00am Wednesday, the students were evacuated after calls were made to 911 for smoke in the school. Firefighters from the Macedon Fire Department arrived on scene and began investigating. During the search, they found a small fire in one of the art rooms.

Lt. Corey Trapiss, Macedon Fire Department, said, “We investigated, and found a small fire in the art room supply closet. There were no injuries, the kids were evacuated in a very timely fashion, the fire was put out, and the fire was contained to that art closet."

Students were sent home early and are expected to return to school Thursday.
